Hiking + Backpacking Gear

Gregory Jade 28

I’ve used many day packs and so far this is my favorite. It holds all of the things I need, including my dog when needed.

Nemo Aurora 2p

My tent is no longer made but this is the closest one to it! Freestanding, large interior, and made by the same manufacturer.

Katadyn BeFree Water Filter

This filter is so much faster than a Sawyer squeeze. Speed and ease of cleaning got me to switch and so far so good!

The Duce

When you need to go #2, you need to bury it (yes. every time). This is a super lightweight solution to making digging easy.

ULA Circuit

This is my backpacking pack of choice. The sizing is super customizable and the customer service is top-notch.

Ether Light Sleeping Pad

This is a solid option for side sleeping. Plus, the stuff-sack is also the pump for the pad. I don’t have to blow up a pad for 5 minutes!

Soto Amicus Stove

This one is super fast to boil water at elevation. I go back and forth between the Amicus and the BRS stove (bonus, it’s super cheap)

Salomon X Ultra (GTX)

Having a set of waterproof boots is great for the winter and the mud season. These are my go-to shoe for when I need a heavy-duty boot.

CRO Top Quilt

Top quilts are a great option for side sleepers. Mummy bags make me feel too claustrophobic to sleep and a quilt solves that problem.

Garmin InReach Mini

One of my biggest fears is getting hurt or lost and not being able to get help. This solves that problem and is a great safety item.

Stanley Pot

It isn’t the lightest option but a small fuel canister, a lighter, and a stove store really well in this pot. Plus, the handle locks over the lid.

Altra Lone Peak Trail Runners

Not every hike requires heavy-duty hiking boots. These aren’t for everyone but they’re my go-to option for when I don’t need a boot.
